Vision Plans (VSP or Spectera) are not truly insurance, but they cover routine exams for glasses, inspection of internal and external eye health in a healthy person without known eye disease. You may also have coverage for contact lens evaluations and materials (glasses and/or contact lenses)
Medical Insurance will be used for eye health visits (diabetes, cataract, glaucoma, eye pain, eye injury, etc.). It does not cover glasses, contacts (except medically necessary contacts for diseased eyes), or other similar materials. HMO Plans (Health Maintenance Organization) are not accepted. We, however, do accept PPO Plans (Preferred Provider Organization), which ensure fewer restrictions when visiting a non-network provider.
Our team is dedicated to making sure you understand your benefits. Please give us a call and we will be happy to look up and/or answer any questions you may have about your vision or medical benefits
Depending on the type of vision insurance you have, your benefits may expire annually. In other words, if you don’t use them you will lose them. Since you are paying for these benefits there is no reason not to schedule annual eye exams for your whole family.
